Travel Talk covers all aspects of travel from city breaks to luxury cruises, from the latest in airline news to the best affordable getaway breaks. Ed has broadcast live from all over the world to his 80,000 regular listeners weekly. From China to the Colorado Mountains, from Berlin’s 25 years celebrations of the fall of the wall to Belfast’s wonderful Queen’s festivals.
Ed grew up in Cork, Ireland and studied at Presentation Brothers College Cork. He attended the Dublin Institute of Technology where he received a Diplomas in Enterprise and Business Development. But his real education came travelling throughout Europe (since his first school tour to Italy, Switzerland, Monaco and France in July 1979). Spending one third of his adult life living out of a suitcase hasshaped his thinking. Ed has also travelled extensively throughout the world and has lived in both Prague and South Africa.
He has travelled widely in the US and Africa and has also spent much time in China, Cuba, Costa Rica, Scandinavia, Finland, Russia, Abu Dhabi and the Baltic States. He was the Travel Editor for “Glow” magazine and has written travel articles for the Sunday Times, the Irish Independent, the Cape Times and has also written a variety of freelance articles for a variety of travel magazines. He has also written the popular “Gourmet Traveller” column for the Love Food magazine for the Irish Independent Newspaper and enjoys his weekly “Travel Talk” radio show on Dublin’s Sunshine Radio 106.8FM. Ed won a prestigious press award from the Czech Tourist Board at the World Travel Market in 2013 for his travel articles and programmes. Ed currently lives in Dublin.
Isabel Conway is Ireland’s current Travel Writer of the Year (awarded in January 2016) winning the title for the second time in four years. She is also Travel Extra Travel Writer of the Year ’Long haul’ category winner for the second time. In November 2015 she won the prestigious British Guild of Travel Writers award for the Best European Feature (over 850 words) for an off the beaten track article on Puglia’s grape harvest published in the Sunday Business Post Dublin.A frequent recipient of travel writer awards over the years Isabel contributes to the travel pages of the Irish Examiner, Sunday Business Post, Irish Daily Mail Sunday World, Evening Echo, Cork and the Saturday travel section of the Irish Independent (print and online) She has written for many UK and other Irish publications including Associated Newspapers London, News International, People magazine New York, the Irish Times and consumer and trade magazines in a career as a news reporter and feature writer spanning three decades. She is a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers and the National Union of Journalists and is based in Kinsale Co Cork, Ireland.
Isabel has lived in the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden, travelling extensively from each of these bases over the years. Her aim is always to uncover places and people to write about because they interest her…She wants her curiosity and love of travel to inspire and entertain the armchair traveller as much as all those adventurous get up and go travellers and tourists. She has almost circled the globe and already this year has travelled to Brazil, Jamaica, Chile, India, Spain, the Greek Islands, Italy and to the US including New Orleans, Texas and several national parks several times.
